Black skies, torrential rains and tornado watches...welcome to winter in Florida! Ally is up in Wisconsin enjoying a bit of winter wonderland with Karyn's family for the weekend while we're here, continuing to unpack boxes, organize rooms and complete paperwork. The last bit of legalese that we need to accomplish is to file a Florida homestead exemption for the new house, which isn't easy: there several hoops one has to jump through while juggling numerous legible copies of all sorts of documents. The only upside to all this rushing around this week is knowing the Bahamas await for Ally's winter break and beyond.
We were in high speed mode today, even for a Saturday: had the painter in to finish painting the window sill areas in the great room, had the electrician in to move the dining room table chandelier over a foot (where it should clearly be located...why didn't the builder notice this??), took delivery of our beautiful sleeper sofa in the den, and coordinated with Jeff, our marvelous maintenance man here at Outrigger Harbour, for the small punch list items we needed done. He was fabulous, hanging the rack for the central vac in the laundry room closet, adding a lock to one of the master bedroom closet doors (in case we ever want to rent out our home while we are aboard Equinox), among other things. Jeff is also handling the drywall and painting of the ceiling repairs post-chandelier move. He's great! We ran the ubiquitous errands of the day (Ron had his fun at the scuba store, getting some items for the center console) before returning home to do yet more organizing. ALMOST done...how nice there isn't bubble wrap and boxes spewing forth everywhere!
Just so you aren't worrying that we are all work and no play, rest assured we have taken every advantage of using the hot tub and pool overlooking the Indian River each evening, and had a great night of dancing at Conky Joe's last night! As they say: dead food, live music! They had a fun reggae band that we both enjoyed, and tonight, we're having the Miles' over for cocktails before introducing them to Ian's Tropical Grill! There are so many great restaurants around here, we really feel fortunate! So....time to kick back and relax for the moment. It's definitely 5 o'clock somewhere, and that would be here!
